Travelling Blues.

Been a while since I posted an instrument have been busy in the shed building and reworking instruments for THE BAND the Recycled String Band that is.
Here is the bass instrument for the band for your perusal.
It is a resophonic instrument the acoustic tone is good but not loud needs to be plugged in for the band.
The Bass is currently in the Wangaratta art gallery part of the Jazz & Blues Festival art exhibition
works must have a Jazz or Blues theme. I called mine Travelling Blues it was given a highly commended might be a chance for the peoples choice award with all the musicians in town last weekend for the festival.

Luke, you are killing me! I love the originality of your builds & the "imaginative" use of everyday items as the basis of the build. Who would have thought of a suitcase as an instrument! And you can carry a change of clothes in it to boot!

Are you using a standard guitar cone for that? I'd have expected the tension to crush such a cone, but based on ignorance, not experience. And bass guitar strings, or double bass strings? Scale length?

The only thing that could possibly make that bass any cooler would be all those stickers you use to see on well travelled luggage. I love that one Luke.

I used a 8 1/4'' cone (biscuit bridge) from resophonic outfitters the standard 9 1/2'' was to big.
cone is holding up well. The volume of the instrument improves a lot with the attack of the strings
just like my reso guitar the more you drive the cone it gets louder. Unfortunately playing bass with finger picks is not cool different tone though.
Scale length is 30'' 762mm at the moment it has med gauge Phos/bronze bass guitar strings they are just like normal guitar strings made for bass the are round wound was thinking of trying some flat wound strings latter on. My mate whom plays bass very well and has several likes the feel and sound of the round wound strings on this one.
