Does Anyone have a supplier off Guitar Strings or has anyone looked into a bulk OEM buy,I'm getting a few personal guitars and along with making guitars for others,It's time I found a reasonable and cheap supply. ,I like the coated type phosphur bronze acoustic 12-53 ,I find here on the NSW North Coast humidity can destroy an uncoated set in a week.

They wont ship Elixirs because the Gore company says they cant ship them outside the US...all their retailers over there are bound by this but some of them will still sell them anyway.

Their site also says that they won't ship Elixirs outside the US - but if you order them they send them. Their shipping rates are good.
At the moment they have some packs of 3 sets of Elixirs (limited gagues) for $22 (electrics) to $32 (acoustic). Also, on Elixirs they say "buy 5 packs, get 1 free". Put a few of those 3-packs in a single shipment and you have a pretty cost-effective buy.

I only buy strings from the USA. Most times it's from Elderly or Strings By Mail. Many times Elderly's prices are a bit more, but shipping less. I just run through the cart on each site and work out the best deal on the day.
I recently brought a heap of different types of strings from this mob.
Postage was $30 and took awhile to arrive but strings very very cheap and they have other gear too. http://www.firstqualitymusic.com/c_5.aspx
worth a look.
I used to buy from First Quality as well, but they have reduced their stock to avoid going bankrupt, and don't always have what I want in stock now. I usually buy 15-20 sets of mandolin/mandola/guitar strings at a time to make it worthwhile. Is a lot cheaper than buying local if you do it that way. Single sets, forget it.
If you are not looking for coated strings I often buy from Carol at austrings.com.au for set up/construction strings that I use to settle the instrument in with. She sells generic strings that are made in the USA but she packages them herself and sell under her name of AUStrings. She is very helpful and fast. The 12-53s that I buy are about $6.60ish from memory.
Maybe useful info...

I get mine from strings and beyond , I try to get 30 mixed sets , which makes the Postage about $1 a pack , Bezdez on Ebay also offer Phosphur bronze ( generic strings) at a reasonalble rate .
But Stings and beyond IMHO are hard to beet.
Thanks for all those tips, But I thought being Luthiers that someone would have organised a deal with a manufacturer, but maybe not.
I like D'Addario EXP16 coated Phosphor Bronze 12-53 these strings are D'Addario 's version of the elixirs and last very well in high Humidity. but are very hard to find at reasonable prices

I did use a guy on ebay a few years back who done free shipping world wide for a 6 pack or more but 10 x EXP 16 @ $95 + $14.95 shipping is a good enough deal.
