String Life Under Tension
(the following is a partial excerpt and originally appeared at http://www.luthierforum.com/index.php?/ ... -tennsion/)
String life Under Tension
In the inner sanctum of our shops while
in communion with the transforming wood...
Me thoughts drift to the string
and how our lives are like that string
too much tension ...she brakes...
not enough and she rattles our brains
oh to find the middle path...
the right note, then cord
to resonate in our being
so what are we resonating to in our lives?
What drummer do we march to?
What are your demons, hidden ghosts and suppression's?
I think in this time of the five degenerations, we have to make personal choices.
We as a species gotta start thinking a sustainable, kind, loving win ~ win life style
or the string she gonna break.
Then what?
blessings

Re: String Life Under Tension
Sometimes the strings just get old and dull...usually fixed with a new set of strings.

I think you are onto something there. When I was young I was a fine, slinky steel.
As I grew older and had a family I became more chunky and tightly wound.
This progressed through flat to oval and bound with brass.
Now I am older and more contented. My boys are men.
I am synthetic gut with a happy tone.

The glass is half full... but I'll have another while your up!
It's not over until Ricky Pontin cries! (Not long now).
Great minds like a think!

Thanks Paul, you just saved me a lot of time as I have been googling away trying to find the answers to Padma's questions.
