Hey, I started a lap steel the other day that is kind of "kona".
I think I'll call it, "The Pram".

Hey Alan that looks interesting. Are you going with the ladder bracing on the top? Is it a Spanish Heel neck join?

Tell me more!

Cheers

Hey Alan.
I had this idea to build a lap steel and be able to use back and side wood for a regular guitar.
I keep seeing nice sets, and nice tops, but they are too small.
So, I am using some African mahog I had laying around.
We'll hear how it sounds.
Here's a pic of the neck joint.
Should be strong like an ox.
I still like the wiess design better.

Saw a design like that before. At least the instrument. Didn't see the construction details. Can't think where it was though. Perhaps they had the same idea as you with using up smaller guitar sets.

How deep are your sides?

Allen, first off, you spell your name wrong.
Just ask Alan H.
Anyway, the sides are 3 1/2".
Why? Because that was the size of my wood.
I was going to use it for a 3" wiess.
Pretty scientific.
I like to put stuff together and see what happens.
