Help in I.D. of Aussie bass builder

Post by jaycoe » Thu Feb 17, 2011 2:50 pm

I am new to the forum and am from Louisiana, USA. This is a longshot of a request but here goes. Several years back, I saw on E bay, a custom Aussie made fender syle solid bass guitar with the body built from Huon wood. It had a most beautiful medium YELLOW stain finish to the body....almost canary type yellow you could say. I remember going to the website of the builder at that time but for now I do not recall the luthier's name at all. Does anyone else recall seeing this bass on ebay and recall the builder? Or perhaps someone knows of the builder involved in this bass. Any leads would be appreciated as I am now desiring to have an exact bass built for myself as I am a player. P.S. the bass was being sold out of Australia on the Australian ebay site. Thank You. Jeff L. jeff@nightly.com

G'day Jeff

I don't know the bass builder but it would have been made from Huon Pine and there probably wasn't any stain on it because it looks like you describe naturally.

I'm building a Weissenborn top from Huon Pine at the moment.

Oh and welcome to the forum.

Regards
Bob, Geelong

Bob,
Thanks for the reply. Sounds correct that the yellow it was its natural color...even more enticing! Jeff
