Latest build - Ruby's Classical
Latest build - Ruby's Classical
Pictures of one of my current builds. Its loosely based on a Hauser and its destined for an owner (Ruby) over in Sydney. This build has been going for 2 years now and today I managed to get the bridge glued on. Back and sides are IRW and the top is Engleman from Graham Hein. The neck is spanish cedar. Finish is French Polish.....more glaze coats to go on once bridge is set.

Martin I do believe outside of the lute, this would be the first of your work I've seen.
Lovely job - very crisp execution by those photos.
Jeremy.
PS - I'll take that lump of Spanish Cedar off your hands for the advertised price of $29 thanks. PM me bank details... That is why you had it featured in the back yeah?

Looking good Martin, should be even better when you give it a couple of 'glaze' coats of Purple.
I think Ruby should be very happy with it if it sounds as good as it looks.

Very refined indeed Martin.
No worries with the FP on this one I take it?

Allen,
FP is my archilles heel. It goes ok on some instruments but on this one Ive had a few issues. The Englemann is hard to get perfectly fuzzless and I had an issue with a few nibs sticking through the finish.
Cheers Martin

Here's an interesting picture. It looks like these people have finally had enough of their neighbour's lime green Holden and they're busy moving it onto a railway track to be collected by the next passing train.

Beautiful, beautiful, rosewood.
The head plate looks good too, so classy.
If that sounds as good as it looks, its going to be marvellous. Lots of gallery pics when its finished please!

Looks great Martin. I've had m Hauser strung for a week now and it is opening up nicely. I was a bit concerned by the weakish trebles at first but they are coming on now and I am very pleased with the sound. But next time I think I'll try a different design like the Bouchet. And I might hit you up for tips on french polishing.
Hope the next one does not take 2 years.
Cheers

Nice work martin the polish looks very good to me. My problem polishing instruments they're not big enough. By the time I get around once it's not quite dry enough for another time around .Not always but you know what I mean.
