How Do You Re-Affix a K&K Pickup?

G'day

We've taken on a repair job of a 6-string acoustic where one of the three K&K pickup pads has come completely adrift from the bridge plate. Does anyone have good advice on what glue to use to re-affix same. We're thinking liquid CA would be too messy and we'd run the risk of permanently glueing a fingertip to the guitar in the process .

Is there a reasonably-fast-setting product (a Gel, maybe?) that you'd recommend for this kind of job. Cheers & thanks!

Yep a mid type CA is what is provided to install the buds by K&K. Check the K&K website and you should find a tute that will help you position the bud right where it needs to go...Positioning is 'everything' with these guys.

If you can find the tute, leme know and I will scan one up 4 u.

just check the bridgeplate first with a mirror
Some people have used double sided tape to afix the discs so that they can be removed and you would not want to be gluing to this residue

Then you'll only glue a glove to the bridgeplate!

I can see where gluing your finger would be a possibility, but if their instructions are followed carefully, that can be avoided. I'm the living testament to CA's tenacity, so if I can do it successfully, anyone can.

The double-sided tape might impact the sound.

Then you'll only glue a glove to the bridgeplate!

Correct, bit it's less painful and a bit easier getting a bit of glued on glove off the bridge plate than the end of your finger!

That would depend, if it s a finger style guitar then it may be a good thing to just leave it there.

Wax paper is your friend when using CA. CA has a very hard time sticking to it, but double sided tape will stick to the wax paper just fine.
