Somogyi Books.

I was amazed to see someone selling sets of E. Somogyi's books The Responsive Guitar and Making the Responsive Guitar on eBay during my customary Ebay search for Luthier stuff today.
I bought the set from E.S. at his retail price of US$265 when the A$ was a shadow of what it is today.
Anyway, anyone who would like to buy them ...heres a good opportunity to use those A-dollars that are now worth more than they have in living memory.

Great Steve, I am glad that the post was useful for someone. I would have bought them too but I already had them and paid almost 400 Aussies for them So you would have got a good saving on what most of us paid 6 or 8 months ago. There is a lot in them and it takes some digesting but they make you think. You get to see a lot of pictures that change the way you think as well. One thing that I have taken on board is his fretting method where he talks about fret tang size and how he modifies his wire by grinding all the bumps off the side of the tang and then chops it with a meat cleaver to deform it to make it grab in the fret slot. Although it sounds a bit agricultural it works very well and it is the method that I now use.

They came in at AUD265 landed on my door, including the international transfer charge on my credit card. You know what they say: "He who laughs last, thinks the slowest" Glad I wasn't organised enough to get around to buying them earlier.
