Clues on finish please

Post by Puff » Thu Nov 18, 2010 5:59 pm

Four old friends being refitted here. Three Samko and a Tatra - all 'economy' classicals from the 70's. Samko being Taiwanese clearing house stuff and Tatra Czech. Converted to seven strings 30+ years ago and due for refit which will probably include bridge doctors but the immediate question is what is the finish likely to be? Would like to keep them as close to original as possible but there are battle scars back to bare wood and going right back to that all over would munt the original 'stick-on' rosettes. Not a biggy in that but I would like to keep them as original as possible.
Ball park ideas on Taiwanese and Czech 70's finishes and what will be 2010 compatible please.

Does the Tatra have the air cooled V8 in the back?

Looks like a fair match for a Holden V8....would certainly be the ticket for cruising and picking up chicks.

Sorry Puff, something just had to be said about the car. This may help with determining the finish on those guitars:
