Hey Nick,

Popped into see Charlie today and he was asking for you. Hes got an interesting Gitane jazz instrument in the shop and we were trying to ID the top wood. Charlie reckons its sycamore....looks like spruce but it has short lengths of dark wood running with the grain. Check it out next time youre in Musicworks.

Weather here in Chch hasnt been that great. The day I arrived it was 27degC but yesterday (Wed) was a typical yukky NE day. Today the weather was downright weird....sunny and hot in the CBD but some weird NE cloud hanging around Sumner and right down to the road driving past the estuary.....looked like the cloud was coming off the estuary at times.

Felt my first aftershock last night...a mag 3.6 which I only noticed because I was sitting in my hotel room out here at Sumner in my socks.

Currently typing this with a bottle of Monteiths Radler in one hand.....I know alot of Kiwis consider The Radler a bit girly but I love the stuff....and its better than anything youll find in West Australia ( )

You girl...Radler, that'll hardly put a hair on your chest! & a 3.6! that's no aftershock, that's just a wobble. I can't feel them unless it's at least a 4.3 these days. But a few days respite here on the Gold Coast is going down rather well! Must get into to see Charlie, unusal for a Manouche to have a Sycomore top but doesn't rule it out.

Nice to hear in church but not in a Mexican prison.
