Hi Dennis
Karl Zeeh is a small family business that have been making purflings and other marquetry products, apparently for some generations. I don't know much about them… They don't have a website and only seem to do small runs of their designs, so they are not cheap and things can take a while. I get the feeling they're not into big marketing exercises, but do quite nicely staying a small family concern.
I have an address and a fax number:
Karl Zeeh
Karlstaße 21
70806 Kornwestheim
Germany
Phone: + 0 71 54-73 65
Fax: + 0 71 54-2 43 40
I faxed them and they posted me a couple of colour copied pages of their designs to choose from - some very nice stuff. A friend and mentor of mine lived in Germany for some years, building guitars, and he bought some of Karl Zeeh's purflings back to NZ with him. It's hard to get excited about StewMac's selecton after using these.
Old world company, maybe, but ain't that kinda nice!
Cheers
Graham
