Just trashed mine,
Any suggestions on the best place to buy a replacement?

These locations are worth a try.

Woodworking Warehouse in Braeside were out of stock when I tried them, and had to order some. I said "From Brisbane?". He said "No, Sydney".

The label reads: Woodworking Warehouse P/L, SB-900900 Travel Belt, Performax 10/20, 260MM x 815MM 100GRIT $40.00

Do I get the impression the conveyer belt system is a weak point on the Performax sanders?

Not really a 'weak' point Martin, think of it more as a consumable. Like any of these machines the feed belt is necessarily thin, flexible and goes round and round lots and just like the tyres on a car, they will wear out over time and you then replace them, but you do get a pretty good run first.

Cheers

I got mine from Gary Pye Woodworking on the Gold Coast. It wasn't in stock there, but they had sourced one and had is shipped direct. On my door in about 4 days.

Woodworking Warehouse is where I got mine in Melbourne.

I got talked into a rubber one to replace the sandpaper one that had worn out. Never again - it's crap.

I'll probably replace it again soon as a measure of preventative maintenance but the sanpaper type will be going back on.

Cost for a 16/32 was about $85.

I've got the WDS-400 from Carbatec and the belt is a tough diamond pattern rubber with cloth reinforcement. Bloody tough. Can't see it tearing at all. Been using it for 3 year now and it is fine.

Anyone had to replace the belt on a CT machine?

Second that Dom, or is that third...?

My belt on the CT machine has been going for about 5 yrs now with no sign of any problem yet. I'm sure it'll happen at some point but it's certainly paid for itself. Wear and tear item it surely is but longevity seems good. I'm not so sure I like the idea of a sanding belt as the feed as found on the Jet/Performax machines.

Jeremy.
