Sound Clip for Second Guitar

Post by WaddyT » Fri Jul 31, 2009 6:36 am

Well, I finally got my friend, Johnnie May, to do a sound clip of my second guitar. In case you don't remember the guitar, Here is the link.

This was recorded on a Zoom H4, which was sitting on a card table, in his apartment. No special effects, only normalization to about 90%. He wanted me to add some reverb, but I chose to leave it flat, so the instrument speaks for itself. He had the guitar for several weeks, and played it a lot, including taking it to a Master Class with Bruce Holzman (Florida State University) who was visiting at East Carolina University a couple of weekends ago for a Classical Guitar Festival. Johnnie said that everyone who played the guitar, including Holzman, liked the way it played and sounded. Whatever that means. At least it's not a dud. Here is the recording.

I'm very impressed. To my ear it has some piano like qualities to it, especially in the bass response. Great attack, yet still has good sustain.

Out of the crappy notebook speakers it sounds like a professional recording in a studio. Got to try it on something better. Thanks for posting that Waddy.
