Rocket, I know this is going to sound bad, especially coming from a woman, but I really think that it's a size thing.

There are two properties you have to be aware of. The first is size of the file. THIS is what stops a file from being uploaded. I don't know what the threshold is but I know that 3 MB is too large.

The other is aspect ratio, the pix X pix display size. This is one that the software will fix if it doesn't like. You can change a image display size without changing the file size. Going from small to large usually doesn't work so well, but the opposite works fine. There is no quality lost when the image is made small, to a certain extent. There is that point where its just too small to see anything. And this is what the forum software does, takes a large format image and squishes it a bit to make it viewable. Sometimes. Not always.

You have make sure that your file is small enough to upload first. Resizing is one way to do that, another is to use a program like PhotoShop and change the pix per inch and/or the photo size.

I like the free software XnView:

http://www.xnview.com/

If the file I want to upload is too large (read larger than 200 K or so), I open up XnView, then bring up the file I want to downsize and press shift-s. At that point you can easily bring a file size down from 2 meg to 100-200 K which will still give you lots of definition and take up 10-20 times less space both on your own computer and in the forum. I save the file as a jpg file with ~ 75% quality. Never had any problems with uploading files of this size into this or any other forum...

Rod

The maximum picture size is 200KB and a maximum resolurion of 800 x 600 pixels

The easiest way to re-size the pictures ( if you are using windows XP) is to download the Microsoft Powertoys picture re-sizer which is available on this page.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/down ... rtoys.mspx

If you have Vista you can get a clone from here

http://sourceforge.net/projects/phototoysclone/

These are great, easy to use tools. All you need to do is right click on the image file and select resize.

Hey Bob,

If the max picture size that can be uploaded is 800 x600, how did Matthew manage to upload the pic of the Ibanez carved top electric which is something like 3427x1324.

Not complaining, just curious...

Could be the "Custom Size" option in the upload box. I've never played with it, so don't know for certain.
