Saddle Thickness

Well folks, this thread had some legs to it. Thanks to all who commented.

I have a few questions. Craig, you said some offset their saddles at 6 degrees. Do those people also use 6 degrees for the bridge pin offset?

Also Hesh, I am a newbie and the acronyms of guitar building are coming to me slowly. Please, what is "BRW"?

Thanks for the turn-on to the work of Somogyi. What a master designer and craftsman he is. Another master's work to aspire to.

I don't think I made myself clear cactus.I wasn't referring to a compensation angle ( I use 3 degree B.T.W. ).

Rather than have the saddle slot cut at a right angle to the bridge surface, some folk cut the slot to around half that of the break angle ( saddle to bridge pin ). This has the saddle leaning back towards the pins a little

After looking at his work I agree with you there Cactus. Somogyi's instruments look great and his folk art is inspiring. Yet another guitar makers web site to read through with pleasure. He is also prolific on the exhibition circuit averaging one solo per year and a three or four times that much when it comes to group exhibitions.
