Hi,
what's that bit of dowel you screwed the blade on to, it looks like its from one of those wooden racks used for wine bottles...?
Thanks for sharing!

Re: Neck wood and other queries
Thanks very much for the replies folks :) Which tuners is a very open question. It depends very much on the style of the guitar, and the budget. What are you planning? cheers Mark I'm planning something similar to Peter Coombe's OM using Tassie Oak from Bunnings (although, obviously it wont be nearl...

Neck wood and other queries
Hey guys :) Where do you get your neck blanks/stock from? I noticed Mr. Spittle doesn't have any listed. I'm looking for QLD maple and that sort of thing... I've seen StewMacs stuff but not particularly interested in mahogany  Also what sort of tuning machines do you recommend for acoustics...

Hey archaic! looks like you'll have at least a little bit of fun for your Year 12
Let us know how it goes. I've nearly finished my last year and am hoping to make a guitar as well once exams are all finished.
Cheers

Hey guys
Thought I'd share this link, its an interesting show about old-fashioned woodwork using unseasoned wood. I suppose it could be a follow-up to Sergy's thread on early tools.

[quote="colin north"] What IS the difference between Epoxy resin and Epoxy Glue anyway? [quote] I can't really help you with the bracing issue:mrgreen:, but I'm 99% sure that epoxy glue is the combination of Resin and the catalyst/hardener. Araldite is a typical epoxy and comes in the two parts as y...

Wow Kim....where did you say you worked? Sounds like politician material there....
Although, that is a good point... one might say they are slight alterations in your/the customer's vision of what the instrument is going to be!

Finishing
Hi everyone!
I have yet another question to ask. I'm probably getting ahead of myself, but I would like to ask if anyone knows how to do a satin finish instead of gloss. Kind of like on Matons, for example.
Cheers Oh and I'm 18 today!! just thought you'd like to know..

adapting shapes?
Hello everyone (again)
I've got another question: is it possible to use steel-string guitar body shapes for a nylon-string instrument? For example using one of the smaller bodies and simply using different bracing, bridge and so on...?
Thanks.

Photocopying plans?
Hey guys
So for my first build I want to use one of the Christophe Grellier plans, my question is how to re-size the PDF on a photocopier to get it full-scale for making construction forms, molds etc?
Thanks.

Re: If you were to make a free instrument...
For me it would be Peter Combe (not the one on here, but the children's entertainer :) ) Everyone should remember him from their childhood (or remember singing the songs with their kids) and he's still touring! how good is that? :cl He could write a song called 'wash your fretboard with orange oil' ...
