Re: Few Newbie Acoustic Questions
Stu, I am sure worthier members than I will weigh in but if you are serious about building an acoustic then suggest you get a few books on building from the library, all of them will have ways of joining the tops and backs. The other reason for this post is to say that I once owned and foolishly sol...

Re: Zircote / Adi Terz
Love the zircote, Allen and the tutorials.
can I ask why you seal the inside of the guitar? I've seen a few people do this but not nearly as many as do not seal.
What are your thoughts on the pros and cons of this?
Do you seal the inside of all your guitars or just some?
Cheers
Richard

OK, I see now that the fret board is inlaid, that looks nice.
Yes, machines make things go a lot quicker, so you get onto the fun bits faster. I'm all for them, mostly
Good luck with whatever is next.

Black Betty
Weighing in a 4.5kg, I am proud to announce the arrival of Black Betty, a very solid body electric inspired by one of the most enduring design icons of the 20th century, IMHO, the Telecaster. This guitar is my sixth and is a right hander, made with r/h parts cannibalised from my earlier lefty Rimuca...

Re: 8 string lap steel guitar
Hey Luke that looks interesting
Are they real frets? Doesnt really need frets I would have thought, just marks where the frets would be.
Did it take long to make?
What sort of finish did you use?
Did you make the bridge hardware your self?
Cheers

Re: Finally! One of the 'twins' is done...
That looks really nice Nick, I like the maple neck and everything else as well. I decided to go wider (classical width) with the neck to make it easier to fret notes without muting others & it's also easier to 'finger pick' as the customer is just learning to play guitar. I wonder how many peole lea...

Re: Black Tele Build
Thanks guys, for the comments I wish I could say I wont make the same mistake again, Nick, but knowing me.... Tim, yes, I agree, my first electric was a Les Paul copy, basically because I grew up listening to Jimmy Page in his later years (after he had switched from a Tele), but over the many years ...

New year progress report I polished the body the other day, put in the shielding tape I had ordered........not quite enough, so ordered some more. That might get here after the public holidays, so not much progress after that. DSC05984.JPG DSC05985.JPG I fretted the neck (thanks for the gold fretwir...

Re: Classical - strung up.
Instead of doing a body session then stiffing off Ive started doing 2-3 body sessions in succession and then doing a stiffing off session after a few hours. I then wait another few hours and do another stiff off I've been using less meths on the pad during stiffing off and have started pressing alo...

Frank.
Thats a long way north - I just googlearthed it and refreshed my ailing geography about where everything thing is. If you a bit further north you might end up on Martins oil rig???
Good luck with your northern adventure.
Cheers

Rod, As we say in this neck of the woods, you poor b*****d! On the upside, I now feel a lot better about my somewhat similar experience, as it pales into insignificance compared to that lot. (Incidentally, it was my fifth one too - spooky!) In the end, you (and us of course) will be the only one tha...

Thanks for all the comments, yes nice to see it finished but as I am keeping this one and it has a bolt on neck, it will no doubt be some tinkering later.... I was very happy with the finish, I spent a couple of hours trying to get one of those foam pads you buff with on the weekend but couldn't, so...

Padma - very cool carving on the cabinets and draws - puts my rough-hewn mountain of Bunnings plywood to shame.
The overhead cabinet is my favourite!.
How long did it take you to do all that?
Cheers and thanks for posting - and thereby resurrecting a great thread.

It's finally finished!! :D :D :D :D Not perfect but not bad either. It has a husky little voice at the moment but sounds better than I thought it would. Its b****y hard to play because there are 6 strings and not much room, even though the nut is the same width as a Tele. Specs are; Back and Sides, ...
