Re: Epoxy adhesive
Frank, the best epoxy wood 'adhesive' I've found is Smiths Allwood. As you probably know I'm not a fan of any epoxy now days and avoid it if there's options at hand, but sometimes, epoxy is the only glue for the job and Smiths is really good stuff. I don't know of an AU supply. But LMI sells it so y...

Not only do they now own a ubeat uke built with their own hands, but thanks to your course they've discovered a new craft and have been gifted with the confidence to tackle it head-on in their own shed...today ...

Thanks for posting this Steve. 8) Not something I'm in a hurry to spend on right now however its really good to get an insight into the process and possibilities. Whilst that level of tech tooling may not be viable for me, I can certainly understand the reasoning behind the investment in a commercia...

Naaahh...Big mistake Eric.

Re: Repairers might know???
Well, I made a new nut for it, put on some nylon strings.... Plays "OK" from frets 1 to 5; from there on the action just gets ridiculously high. I chopped down the saddle so that less than 2mm is proud of the bridge slot and it's still a bit high. Bridge also has been previously reset but almost 3m...

Apparently both Sadao and Giichi Yairi had apprenticed at the Suzuki Violin Co in Nagoya during the 1920's. After becoming master luthier, Giichi Yairi had left SVC aro...

Re: Repairers might know???
On the site Tod mentioned I found a pic of a No7 with a caption saying it was built in the 1960's so I'm tending to think No9 is probably towards the 1970's. Most of that site deals with Kiso Suzuki. That's the other half of the original Suzuki Violin Co the yanks split up at the end of WW2. Your g...
