Looking forward to hearing this one - and love the way the bridge turned out.
- please don't give up the day job though - I don't think any of us could stand it if you concentrated all your efforts to this craft

Consensus seems to be leaning towards banning you Allen !

Beautiful work all the same

Nice to see you're still being challenged - Bosko must be stoked. Any chance of him giving us a sound clip?

Re: first build - Blackwood tenor uke
Thanks Nick, Yeah, think Allen may be really regretting the generosity  The Blackwood didn't really come alive 'till a way into the build. I had originally intended to go with binding, but once the box was closed and I'd laid a sealant of shellac the grain pattern and figure with the rosette se...

Re: first build - Blackwood tenor uke
Thanks everyone - your kind comments appreciated :D In answer to the questions/ comments. Yep, Miguel, guitar for ages, ukulele only in the last year, so fret marker on the 9th seems more natural to me. Gaz, Martin - combo of Blackwood and D'Addario black nylon strings (steel wound third) do give it...

first build - Blackwood tenor uke
Hi all. so, here's my first build - a pretty simple tenor uke. My only other real contribution to this forum to date were the electron microscope images Allen showed of timbers from the Cairns uke build course he and Micheal ran last year. It's not as impressive as most of the instruments shown here...

Once again a build that quietly proclaims "pure class" Allen. Pretty sure you can do away with your logo, no doubting who made this

Re: Baritone Ukulele in Ancient Spruce and Honduran Rosewood
Would be really interesting to know if there has been mineral replacement or infill going on to account for the "sparkles". Do you have a small off-cut ? I have a variety of "machines that go ping" that should be able to tell...

Re: Extended shelf life
Nice one Miguel !. Excellent bit of recycling too - and I also like the bridge design....great minds think alike, I have one pretty similar sitting on the bench. Rains have come and humidity is all over the place, don't know when I'll get to attach it.

Well now Micheal, I can do that. All I need is an example or two of your ridiculously sharp blades !
..... maybe still attached to the sound hole / rosette cutter ?

Re: Extreme Closeups of the Cairns Ukulele Build
Hi everyone, .... and thanks to Allen for introducing me to the members of the forum. Given the fact that I'm only just about to embark on my first "solo" build, I haven't much to contribute here and certainly wouldn't class myself as a luthier ! But one of the many hats I wear at work is electron m...
