I now have mine on points in the corner (my floor is not level) and I'm thinking of just getting two good sized sand bags to put on it when I use it.

Dennis, the tower is my version of Stew Mac's binding jig. I couldn't figure out how to do the bearing setup they use, so I used linear bearings instead. The "issues" I still have to deal with are from not choosing materials for it with more thought. I chose the Rigid trim router to be the dedicate...

I'm back on track with my screwed up top (that I showed earlier in this thread) and I have two bodies closed up and ready for binding. http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w266/findmeinariver/Faulkes%20Guitar/Faulkesguitar132.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w266/findmeinariver/Faulkes%20Guitar/...

Nice Job Bob. I to use (or did in the past) my sander to shape the ends on my back braces. Great system.

As far as using the block plane to shape the braces, I just use a piece of arborite (counter top veneer) to let it ride on. It's very hard and would take a very long time to wear out.

Hey ToeJam Jim, Well, one never knows who lurks on the forums and sometimes it's hard for me to post pictures of my bracing. I know that I do things a little different (just a little though, not a ton) and honestly, I have very little answers for why I do something other than to try something new. T...

I do like the look of Rod's soundboard bracing. Food for thought in that one. An original or from someone else? cheers graham Thanks Graham. Well, I've not seen one like this before. I've seen variations of the double X-brace but all of those have seen the secondary X-brace much lower in the bout a...

Sure, I'll play along. I've got two guitars on the go right now. First is a Tassie Blackwood/Lutz SJ (of the Jim Olson variety) Back and sides are together, top is braced and voiced and ready to attach to the rims. Here's the back with back strip http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w266/findmeinarive...

There'e plenty of glueing area there Rod and I'd only have the sides heated for about 4 minutes. I don't know what efffect that'll have on Titebond but I can see Daves rationale for using something like HHG. To be honest it's only a theory, but one worth pursuing with a couple of spare sides to see...

...When I was in the States last year Bob Cefalu and I were contemplating the possibilty of glueing the sides together flat and then putting them in the side bender. The heat would allow the glue to slip a bit while bending. We couldn't see why it wouldn't work It's certainly something I'm going to...

Hi Ron,

Yes, the fretboard will have the trinity symbol at the usual locations with a double at the 7th and 12th.

The headstock will have this celtic cross (this is actually the one Andy sent me, based on my design)

Thanks folks. I'm really pleased with how its turned out. Here's the way to install it. First to remove the inlay from the backing board, put clear packing tape over top of the inlay and push it on as hard as possible. Than, cut the tape out so that only the inlay is covered. Even the gap at the top...

My latest rosette - Thanks Ron Wisdom!

Well, this might very well be the longest it's ever taken anyone to successfully install a rosette. I started this guitar 3 years ago and I screwed up two separate tops and rosettes (all of the same design). I gave up on it for well over a year and I finally got the courage up to give it one last tr...
