Looking good Bob, and I'm pleased that the info helped you out. Many of you have helped me out without even knowing it, so a big thanks to all of you.

Thank you, Allen! It hit its mark. This morning, it was -9°F on the thermometer here; -20°F with the wind chill. Not many lorakeets flying around! (Talk about dead parrots!) My daughter has been telling everyone she knows that it is summer in Australia, and wouldn't it be great to be there... Why...

Pictures to brighten up our Northern Friends Winter.

Seeings as a bunch of you are huddled inside trying to stay warm, or worse yet, shoveling snow in the driveway, I thought I would add some color to your dark gray days. All these pictures were taken from the balcony of our unit in Batemans Bay NSW. http://www.mcguitars.com.au/phpBB2/userpix/31_cocky...

After all the talk previously about pressing frets I just had to try going down that path. And I was going to give building a sanding block a go, but after researching how to go about it, it seemed that there were too many things that could go wrong and the accuracy was something I was really lookin...

What came in the mail today

Finally the postman has brought some of the goodies that I've been waiting for. 3 parcels showed up today that were ordered 3 weeks apart. Stew Macs order I thought had gone missing in action. MEI's and Tools for Working Wood arrived in the expected 10 days +. http://www.mcguitars.com.au/phpBB2/user...

What else can I say....that's gotta be one of the nicest binding jobs I've seen. It would indeed be hard to part with that one.

Allen, those are beautiful rosettes. I love your further stretch of the oxymoron "small jumbo" into "petite jumbo." Petite jumbo has a bigger ironic payload, something on the order of jumbo shrimp. Well said! Dennis That's why I chose that name Dennis. I didn't want it confused with the OLF's...

These are going to be my Petite Jumbo design. Basic dimensions are, length, width of lower bout and depth of a OM. I've designed for a 25.4 scale, but could build a short scale without any drama. I like small guitars, and love the curves of the Jumbo style. I've built one Dread, two OOO's and one OM...

Welcome to the forum James.

I really have no experience with your questions, so I'll sit back and learn from some of the others who will be sure to fill us in some more.

Cool looking guitar Dennis. I like that a lot.

Yah, the Engelman does set the rosette off better, but we'll see how the whole package comes together. It's funny how a build goes. On each one that built I've started out with an idea. Have the wood that I think will work well together, and lots of times I change things out as I go along, and so fa...

That's the way I do it too Bob, I figured that if I was going to build a few guitars, it was a much cheaper way of buying the wire.

Can you still count to 10?

Just goes to show that you can never have so much experience that you can't make a stupid mistake that'll put you on the sideline.

Hope it didn't need stitches.

My feeling would be for the curly bindings. I think the shimmer that you would get would set things off quite nicely. They're going to be small so won't overpower the overall package.

The BRB purfs are going to look great too.

What I did this weekend.

Well, I've been waiting for some tools to show up from Stew Mac. Lost in the post somewhere over the Pacific. . So I've been stalled trying to get my Petite Jumbo completed and ready for finish. Instead I've started on making 2 identical guitars but with different tops, so I can get a better f...

You can build some simple jigs that will do this for you as well. The simplest I've see in just 3 largish nails hammered into a board making a triangle that the wire is pulled through until you end up getting the amount of radius that you want. http://www.mcguitars.com.au/phpBB2/userpix/31_fretjig_1...

Absolutely one of the best commentaries that I have ever seen on Bush. I wonder if Bush ever gets to see commentaries like this, and if he does, will it sink in? I think he is either so devious, he wouldn't care, or he's so stupid that he it wouldn't register.
