Re: Radius sanding blocks
This is a common way to make a cove moulding. The fence angle determines the radius, many shallow passes. I haven't made sanding blocks but have made many metres of moulding. Don't use short bits of timber. You can boggie up something to mimic the grabber. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOEdWrBQa_g

That poor old dog must have got his tail caught in a belt. I want to see the still house, there must be one close by.

Cheers John,
I'm as guilty as they come. This verandah boot cupboard is old stringers and treads.

I posted these boxes on another site and it occurred to me these are probably safe from future harvests.
The carved box is my "Four Seasons ", different view from all corners. Four Seasons is not finished polished.

Re: Darwin retail experience
The licensed distributors and retailers have had us in a barrel for years and have treated us like mugs. Case in point: Last week I made a new bridge for one of my early basses and changed strings. Bruce bought some d'addario helicores that he paid $300 for. Last time I checked Bris retail for helic...

Just as an aside, the lira ( after the rebec ) is still played today, it can have as few as 3 strings. The strings are stopped with the fingernail on the side of the string, not depressed

Re: Crazy electric bass ideas - oldschool chambering
My first Archie originally had only an under soundboard piezo. My mate bought it and wanted an end of fb Kent Armstrong. He has now added a Gretch pu , suspended at right angle from the pick guard, an inch from the bridge. This space has about I in. hgt. to work with. The piezo is always on, the two...

I think the pickups and bridge will influence how hollow it can be. If standard elec bass hardware is used, I would think a solid
lump down the middle would be needed.

As that piece stated it was probably wise of Abbot to avoid a debate on the economy. A debt analogy making the rounds the last month........." govt. debt is comparable to someone earning $100,000 a year having a mortgage of $10,000." I have yet to hear a counter analogy from the Coalition. As simple...

Re: Question about alternate tunings....
Cross tuning a fiddle to AEAE from standard GDAE is common but not many do it with their good instruments. Going back and forth wears the strings so most just leave it. I have ones I keep in AEAE and GDGD, much more easy on fiddle and string.
My bush viola is CGCG from standard CGDA.

My Big Fat Bush Fiddle
My big fat bush fiddle, 15 1/2 in Viola. I built this over 1 year ago and only just started playing it again. My playing is probably as good as it will ever get, it sounds much better with guitar and double bass. I plan on another Viola, more finished than this one. I have six fiddles ( 1 a 15yr old...
