Re: An build from a few years ago

G'day Taffy,
I never got to see or hear that one. It looks fabulous mate. Especially the incredible hand cut inlay work.
An oldie maybe, but a real goodie.
Glad you have got the hang of the pic uploading.
Cheers

Re: Carbon fiber Nut n saddle

G'day William, Here is a link to Paul Reed Smith vid on the very subject, guitar nuts material. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3o2FHxz9O8 So I reckon just try the carbon fiber. In my personal experience the difference in tone between say brass, bone, ebony and the synthetic nut materials is huge. ...

G'day Taffy,

Looks like you are still a member. Good to see you the other day mate. It has been a long time alright.

Martin, I said to Taffy to watch this space. So we are both watching. Keep the intrigue going.

Re: OO Acoustic Guitar

Hi Wayne, I work one day a week up here teaching guitar building. I was doing more hours but a health issue got in the way. It is a big shop that has furniture making, wood for sale, tonewood for sale. Check out Studio Dubbeld, Townsville. There was a piece at the shop I spotted it was 50mm x 200 x ...

G'day Jason,
Nice work for your first guitar build.
Looks like life got in the road a bit starting in 1997 and still going?
It is a great pass time and very addictive.
Keep the progress pics coming.

Re: OO Acoustic Guitar

Thanks Wayne, I'm convinced now the lattice is the way to go. I have finished building a OM with that bracing design sanding a finishing the guitar now. There was another small parlour size guitar I built with the lattice and I have recorded it as well. If you would like to go to Hamley Fine Guitars...

Re: Vendors and Suppliers

Hi there again,
I received an email from Tim last week. He is now operating his tonewood business in Tassie.
https://australiantonewoods.com/
The site is a work in progress but there is plenty there to look at.
I have used Tim for tonewood supplies and his material and service is great.

Re: Vendors and Suppliers

Hello there, Tonewood in Australia is available but you need to seek it out yourself. Times have changed dramatically with many tonewoods from overseas not permitted into the Australia or out with the introduction of new wood laws. Since covid19 there are many in the tonewood business that did not s...

Hi Stanley,
Did you use carbon fiber stiffeners in the neck?
That may be the issue if you haven't.

Re: Indian Rosewood Bridges coming off Cedar and Pine tops

Welcome to our forum. Indian Rosewood is a self oiling wood. In other words, if you sand the bottom of the bridge and leave it a few days the joint will most probably fail due to the oil the rosewood secrets. So what I do is sand the bottom of the bridge and then glue up straight away. I did just th...

Re: Bending Irons

Hi Peter, I still do all my wood bending with a Stew Mac electric iron I bought many years ago. As Mark said it is a satisfying job bending by hand. It takes a little practice but it is worth the effort. A tip for cutaway bending is to immerse the cutaway end of the side into boiling water and leave...

Re: My shellac looks like gravy

Sounds to be like you shellac flakes, granuals, beads or what ever dry form you used is old stock or it have been subjected to moisture so your brew has not dissolved correctly. If it is a milky colour that's your problem for sure.
Good luck.
Merry Christmas
