started getting dull and I am too lazy to sharpen it How do you get any work done Hesh if you can't spend 30 secs. rubbing a router bit on a diamond plate. The jig works great and makes a tedious job easy. http://www.anzlf.com/phpBB2/userpix/139_DSCF3621_copy_1.jpg Binding channels cut http://www.a...

I think the biggest problem with the ceiling mounted dust catchers is the constant drone. As Rick said catch the dust at the source. Better still is to not sand much. Get a cabinet scraper , learn to sharpen it and use it for a quicker and more accurate job.

What brand is that router bit Tim ? It seems to have a long screw for the bearing or has it been modified? Thanks for posting this as it prompted me to get one built as well.

I thought that exact ratios were to be followed and the best way to do this is to mix by weight with some accurate digital scales and refering to the manufacturers recommendations. This is particularly true for small quantities where it is easy to vary the mix wildly.

That's the method I was shown Mark and it works great.Seems to be much quicker when you watch a full time guitar repairer do it.

Hi Tim,and welcome. Just whack a shelf up high on the wall and stick this and other useful things on top.You can never have too many shelves.Looks like a good jig to keep around so I suppose I will have to steal your idea.

Try out the microplane. They do take shavings and are prettyquick and controlable.I use a flat and large round usually.Get handles on both as it is quicker to change shapes.

Simple answer Craig is YES it is too big to get near the heel and the headstock , it is bulkier then the Record/Stanley type metal spokeshaves. Designed more for furniture curves than carving.I use the Microplane rasps which work quite well and follow up with a Bow Sander in 2 grits (80 & 120 ).Tool...

These little buggers from Carba Tec do a pretty good job too Allen. 400mm wide is handy for sanding joined tops and backs. Just remember it is a sander and not a thicknesser and you shouldn't have any problems.List price $799.The best tune up for this is to get rid of the small dust extraction port ...

Due to a lack of time at the moment it will be air drying in the woodshed for a while first. It should dry without too much checking and be easy enough to resaw later.I did put some wet boards into the kiln to check what will happen to force dried wood.A week in there should give me an idea.Sawing d...
