Re: Keeping my wife happy!

Hi Eric,
The guitars sounds great. Very even tone across the full pitch range. Fairly warm sound. Good volume. The thing I found a little strange was actually working with the Sassafras. It felt like no other timber I have worked with. Quite "gritty" when sanding. It responded well to bending.

I have played it and it still has a sweet sound. SO, to keep her happy I suggested...

Re: First guitar for a paying customer

Hi Bruce, Yes, this was commissioned by an ex staff member that had heard I had started making guitars. He wanted a small body acoustic and chose the timbers so he was involved in the process. I had only made 2 guitars before this one so was a little nervous to say the least. I spoke to him the othe...

Re: First guitar for a paying customer

Hi Paul,

Yes my name happens to be Martin Taylor and as it is my birth name I can trade under it without breaching trademarks. If only my parents knew when they named me that I'd end up making guitars one day! haha.

First guitar for a paying customer

The specs are: Back and sides - Tasmanian Fiddleback Blackwood, Soundboard - Bunya Pine, Neck - QLD Maple, Fretboard and Bridge - Mulga Wood. I love...

Fretboard shaping jig

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum but look forward to reading and contributing when I can. I thought I'd show you my fingerboard shaping jig. It isn't my original idea but it saves heaps of time when shaping Mulga wood or Gidgee Fretboards. The whole process from flat blank to finished fretboard t...
