Re: hardwood uke top

G'day Andrew I've built guitars from Cocobolo and I've built Ukes and I just can't help but feel that Coco is just too heavy for a Uke top. I don't think it would work for a guitar top let alone a Uke top. You've only got 4 nylon strings trying to load up one of the heaviest rosewoods on the planet....

Re: 12-string weissenborn

The Christmas Tree bridge plate was a late addition by Herman Weissenborn to strengthen up that area behind the bridge to stop excessive bellying in the lower bout. Add this with the sound hole patch and the A brace you have a fairly comprehensive solution to stop the dip in front of the bridge and ...

Re: 12-string weissenborn

G'day Dea And welcome to the forum. I built a weissy with two sets of six strings on it. So the total strain on the top will be quite a bit more than a 12 string given the second course on 12 is quite light. I put extra bracing under the end of the fingerboard in the form of an "A" brace. I have put...

Hare and Forbes T-13S Thicknesser

Hare and Forbes have a sale on this weekend so I thought it opportune to throw up some pics of what the T-13S Thicknesser can do. If you sign up for their newsletter you can get $50 off so this ended up costing roughly $630 plus $25 delivery to Geelong. It's got a helical cutter head that has 26 HSS...

I don't drill a hole through the UTB any more. I reckon it weakens things too much.

I noted there seems to be a few add on apps, they worth it?
The only add on I have is an adaptor lead that I can plug in to the phone.

I don't use it that much but I guess it's be more accurate.

Re: Amplifying a nylon string guitar - best options

Hi Mark

As Trevor mentioned the pre-amp is critical so I'd be ordering a Pure-Mini pre-amp from K&K which does have the appropriate input impedance.

You wouldn't bother using the K&K's without one.

Re: Anybody used this stuff?

I own a bottle of it but have never had to use it Nick.

I seem to remember that Rick Turner swore by it, so I basically bought a bottle on his recommendation.

I believe it works with Titebond and LMI white.
