Great ideas guys and oddly enough perfect timing for me.
I got some teflon sheet from an art supply store that I've been using when refretting but I like the packing tape idea even more, thanks! Gonna give it a go today.

Re: New Website
Nice site! I've reached my dl limit for this month so my ADSL2+ has been shaved down to dialup speeds, which is pretty painful for most sites. Yours, however, loads in about a second, is easy on the eye and simple to navigate. Coming from a coding background I really appreciate it when extra care is...

Re: Bench padding?
Haha yep we've got a reverse garbage up here too, it's great. I'd like permanent padding on it because it's only used for setup stuff. It's not a workbench as such - just a table (actually it's more of an old blue-print machine base with ply on top  ). I've got other more robust benches for ot...

Re: Art or Craft?
My first thoughts were "that's just a cool stick". Which, in some respects, it is. Then I remembered the first time my mother swore at me. She is an artist, and used to take me to heaps of exhibitions when I was younger. One night, I remember looking at some "abstract" art which was really just pain...

Re: Bench padding?
Yep - I have covered the mats with some nice toweling I got from Spotlight. Maybe I should look at some nicer carpet... Actually last time I was in Spotlight buying white flannel (for rags, I like how I can tell when it's dirty) I went to the counter with it and there was about 20 kids lined up with...

Bench padding?
Hi guys Just wondering what people use for padding on their final setup benches. Currently I have some pads made up with towelling over yoga mats and they are good, but a bit small, and I'd like to cover a larger area (maybe 1mx2m - a whole table top) with something that's not too difficult to clean...

Re: Dust extractor tubing on the cheap?
I'd love to see some pics! I was considering using all flex so I could move things around; but I just found a bunch of large diameter "free" galvanized stuff from some down pipes at my workplace which I'm thinking I could misappropriate. If I use galvanized drain pipe instead of PVC, would I need to...

Re: Dust extractor tubing on the cheap?
Thanks guys!
Looks like I'm off to Carbatec, I have been eyeing the starter kit for a while anyway. But every time I step foot in that shop I somehow end up spending hundreds so I was hoping there was an alternative haha.

Dust extractor tubing on the cheap?
Hey guys I've recently purchased a dust extractor (a 2 port 2hp from hare and forbes) that I'm wanting to hook up to a few machines. Is there a cheap alternative to the tubing from Carbatec? I'm happy to pay for the reducers and mouths, I just though there might be a thrifty alternative to the actua...

Re: Advice wanted for tools of the trade for a newbie
I'm thinking your $100 towards a premade wiring harness could be better spent on an adjustable temp soldering station, then you can do your own wiring forever after. The actual components for the greasebucket circuit shouldn't cost much over $30 even for CTS stuff. I used to think I was terrible at ...
