Okay I finally got this sucker finished....saddle got done yesterday and Kims MOP/ebony bridge pins went in and I tuned her up. She sounds nice...loud but balanced..same as the last 6 string I built. Okay today I had a deluge of bridge pins......5 sets from Hancock and co and then Kims pins arrived abut an hour later. Dentist wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. The hygenist does jewellry in her spare time and she gave me details of a place here in Adelaide to get some decent tools.

Okay I pulled out the saddle and infilled the slot. Ive worked out position for new slot with more angle and closer to front of bridge on treble side. Tomorrow Ill re-route the slot and hopefully all the bldi bridge pins I need will turn up and I can do a full string up and continue with setup. Neck...

Just remember to drill the holes for the tuner posts before cutting the slot and cut the slot with the head a little over thickness as it is likely that there will be some tearout on the back of the head when drilling the holes to roughly cut the slot cheers graham Important advice. You could do it with either guide bushing and a straight cutter and suitable jig or with a bearing/bit set. Kim,

Pin popping was because I dont have ramps cut in my bridge pin holes. String was coming up to tension with ball not properly seated.......I was able to tell when the ball seated by the cracking sound the pin made as it bounced off the ceiling.

Thanks mate. Ill pay you back in pins with next Stewmac order.

The extra pins will come in handy.....an hour ago two of the buggers shot out of the bridge on the 12 string, bounced off the ceiling and disappeared behind a pile of tonewood. That's four of the buggers that have done that so far.
