Don't worry about the "Stash Envy" most of it appears to be faulty. The bloody Silky Oak looks a bit wrinkled and patchy as well.Allen, could it be the Nitro sending it off ? Did it a bit on the fronts this time as well! http://www.anzlf.com/phpBB2/userpix/139_silkyoakbacks_1.jpg http://www.anzlf.com...

James, The Camphor Laurel has a lot of uses but in typical fashion it is best out of old trees. Not tall skinny regrowth which tends to be pale , soft and unstable.Older trees produce very stable timber and a variety of figure.Color is variable and my thoughts are that there are 3 to 4 sub species o...

Partly due to releasing the tension and partly due to moisture gradients in the timber . Even after sitting for 8 years when you open it up it can still be marginally more moist and will equalize after a while. As Bob said dampen them all and glut them for a week with some weight on top and they will...

I have used Mirotone for about 10 years and it very easy.No noticeable shelf life either in the drum ( I buy 20l drums ) or if it is left in the spraygun.Just bought some retarding thinners a to try out after all these days of rain. Trying to spray to a show deadline in a flood is not my idea of fun.

For my ten cents it is applying veneer to only one side.Having said that and looking at the pictures I would just sand it flat and get on with the rest of the building.Hard to tell with pictures but I don't think anyone would notice the slight taper in the headstock overlay caused by sanding it flat.

If you want to keep a pipe bender make it aluminium or steel . The heat goes straight through S/S and it doesn't become a heat sink. As soon as you put your wet timber on there you suck the heat out of the hottest spot . As for side benders my experience with light bulbs was of not enough heat makin...
