Guess its easier to do the first of a plan, hence the choice of a Tele.
If it's humidity that will make the greatest difference then I guess will find a piece that matches best aesthetically.
Thanks

Re: New Tele Build
Thanks, I did give it some thought, but then would have to paint. It is such a nice piece of Mahogany that it would be a shame to cover it with paint.

New Tele Build
Hi all, I have built a couple of Acoustic guitars and am going to try my hand at an electric. I have a great piece of Mahogany for a Tele but its about 40mm too narrow for the build. I have seen guitars built with laminated bodies and wonder what I could use to do the same. I might be over thinking ...

Re: Double cutaway acoustic
Congratulations, That is one nice looking instrument. Must have had hell's own trouble keeping the back strip colour from permeating into the back? Were you trying to make it hard for yourself with two different cutaways? Be great to hear it being played.

Re: 00 Acoustic build thread.
Great work Joseph, very neat and tidy. The Grellier plans work a treat. Just finished the Grellier OM as a cutaway for my Son-in-law who absolutely loves it. The boys down Albany are really helpful. Pete and Maurice are real gentlemen. Could not have built my guitar without their help.

Re: DIY plane blade query
Pat, You could but the alloying elements in Mild steel are not there to hold the edge. (no core strength) SO while you might be able to get some hardness into it by a simple quench... it just won't hold the edge for any length of time in use. And then dependent on the carbon content of the mild stee...

Re: Guitar No.2
Looks great! That cutaway looks like a serious bend, well done, It also looks like you don’t have a taper or radius on the back. I don’t know anything about Grellier, do they make ‘em flat? Thanks, Yep a serious bend alright - Thanks to Maurice in Albany who bent all of that!! Lesson learnt, thin t...

Looks like an awfully large bite Ross. Might chatter due to too the surface area of the cut!! But what would a metal worker know about wood!!

Hey Woltz, Great that you are putting the guitar and this feed together and making such an effort to keep it updated... warts and all.
Love the choice of wood and the heart with which this is being built.

Re: Musical Instrument Auction Melbourne.
I was on it thinking could get a couple of gems at a bargain price... My idea of bargain and the bidders the auction attracted were about 200 to 400% out! And, there was a 25% buyers premium on the prices. The DÁngelico went for $30,000 + BP!! The collectors world is very different to the one I live...
