Re: Woodrat's journey

Well folks...the WoodRat has just about finished his sojourn in Blighty....he has had a great time, divested a few people of some boring old furniture and met some ANZLFers along the way which has added greatly to the enjoyment of his trip....I met for the first time Nick Royle and Martin (Munchkin)...

Re: Latest OM in Mahogany #9

Peter Ah Peter...like I said when we chatted last week....you just need to know where to look :) ...never leave a stone unturned....or an antique store unratted!...

Re: Woodrat's journey

I'm a little more downmarket than antique shops. I find the local Hospice/SPCA/Sally Army shops are a wonderful source of really cheap, good quality mahogany. This timber, disguised as (now unfashionable) bed ends, coffee tables..... can be a real bargain. And the people behind the counter don't ca...

No Paul...Seriously that is a legit organization!...all furniture that HAS to be euthanized will be treated with the utmost dignity and given the best anesthetic (if needed) to make sure it has a peaceful passage into the Afterlife!

Re: Gallery of "Book" builds

Hi All, I have just finished this guitar for a customer called Adrian so it is called Adrian's Baritone. It is a 13 fret Mahogany and Cedar Falcate with a sound port. It is the first baritone that I have made and I was pleasantly surprised with the lush sound that emanates from it. It is a 27 inch s...

Re: An Introduction and question - two for one special!

Hi Harry, thats a good question regarding brushing lacquer....I believe Behlen (US brand that carbatec stocks some of their products) have a brushing lacquer. I often brush small repairs with 3220 and use it thinned quite a bit. Once cut back you cant tell that the bit was brushed.

Bridge Rotation...Another approach

I am sure that I am not the only one who has thought of this.....but I thought that I would post the rig I knocked up very quickly in the workshop. It is just a background scale and then a long pointer to read the scale against attached to the guitar top with a couple of my trusty workshop helpers.....
