Re: A clean, no-binding look

Hi, Thanks for the kind words Dave, As Jeremy has been said my seemless look is achieved slightly differently. The end grain is not exposed therefore to me it is no more vulnerable than a bound guitar. lets face it, if you ding your guitar, you ding your guitar !!! either way you live with it or get...

Thanks Nick, Sharing is caring!!!
I am also about to be given a whole Kahikatea tree, which is akin to Adirondack spruce in my opinion, So I'll have a ridiculous amount of that to share too.

Cheers,

Re: Beware Wood Porn.

Just to let you guys know the Rimu is officially dry fillet stacked, and will need another month or so, to get the moisture level down to a point I'm happy to start breaking them down into sets. So I won't be putting any up for sale for a bit. I'm thinking becuase of the quality and size the sets wi...

Fantastic, I would like a set if possible, how would it be on a acoustic bass? I was discussing this the other day, and I suggested a Kauri top and Heart Rimu back and sides. Christian. Thanks Christian, I would love to build a bass using that combo, but my first priority is to build a dry room as ...

Hi Guys, Had to show you guys this shipment of Heart Rimu I just got today. Has to be some the most freakish Rimu I have ever seen. I had my milling guy scouring the country for the better part of this year trying to find the right tree, all sustainably milled incase you were wondering. Brazilian Ro...

Re: Just sharing.....Progress shots....

I'm with you on the satin finish on these natives, I experimented for ages and this is what works for me. I use Mirothane PU 5545 yip it contains isosynates so may not be suitable if you don't have the right gear. But it's a fantastic high build sealer with great clarity. I then cut it back with 600...
