Michael, Stu,

Hate to be a pest but the awesome green machine in the other thread now has a sound AND video clip. It's time for a shootout! Any chance we can hear this beauty in anger?????

Liam, mate, sorry for the delay. Measurements are of my Yammy FG512, made with digital calipers, (which may not have been invented for people like me whose eyes are packing up, but they sure make measuring things a truckload easier!) Nut width = 48.5mm Space between strings varies between 2.87mm on ...

Re: Breasts

Researchers at Wellington's Victoria University have found nearly half - 47 per cent of men first look at women's breasts. "Men spent consistently more time looking at the breasts of [naked] front-posed female images and also made significantly more fixations upon the breasts than other regions of ...

Hesh, Thats what I was hoping for when I suggested a gallery forum - instant guitar gratification. Stunning work. Can I ask about the black top/myrtle guitar - what kind of finish is that? BTW if your burst is giving you so much pain, then feel free to swap over to left hand and post it down here to...

I haven't worked out a way to convice the accountant that I need to put in air conditioning into my workshop before she gets it in the lounge room. :? Allen, surely the answer is obvious - move the workshop into the lounge, install the aircon and you will both be happy. Your wife will think its gre...

Dave - well done mate! We have a Gallery Forum now for masterpieces like this, don't you know!! Having had the privilege of seeing this getting built I can testify that its as good or better than it looks in these photos. The wood on the back is just perfect rosewood. All that remains is to post a s...

Very entertaining build Martin, but cannot yet see where you are going to be able to fit the twin humbuckers, tremolo arm and control knobs. When I do get to spend time in my shed I am often thinking of my Dad, and trying to be as good with wood as he was. He made exhibition and display stands (amon...

And thanks from me too.

This forum is without doubt the single most useful resource anyone building a guitar for the first few times will ever find. The books and videos are great but the ability to ask direct questions of people who have been there and done that is priceless.

Good on you, guys.

Over to you who must be obeyed, but the more rules you have, the more someone has to check they are being followed and that must mean more work for moderators. I did not intend to make more work for anyone. So minimum number of "rules" (like, none) would be good. With greatest respect to the many ve...

Stu, that is just fantastic. Clearly, you need to build one of those for me as I am also a lefty. I am curious to know what it sounds like though - I am over the moon with my (deeply substandard compared to that) Lefty Tele, mostly because of the very distinctive sound. Won't two humbuckers make it ...

As the old saying goes, if at first you don't veneer, ply, ply, ply again. So I did This time I decided to have a go at the sides, as they have a smaller face area. I figured if I couldn't do those successfully I was not going to have much luck with the back. So first I finished the mini me mould an...

Hesh, thats more like a surgery than a workshop! What is in there that could possibly be malodorous?? Personally, unless the woodshavings are up around my calves, I feel I am either not working hard enough, or I need to be using a more powerful tool. My current favourite is the thicknesser, because ...

Hi Nick, yes, you are dead right. Not only did I glue all up at once, I used too much glue and then after putting all the plies together I wrapped it in cling film so it didnt stick to the mdf sheets - so the moisture had no chance to get out. Luckily I have heaps of veneer left so I can try again. ...

Hi Tim Not very well, clearly!! I didn't feel it, but then Im in Auckland. Might have knocked some tools off the bench in Christchurch?

A local described it as one of the "better" ones he's felt in 9 years of living there! But so far so good, no reports of injuries on the NZ Herald website.

Cheers for worrying about us Pat!
