Love it Allen
Body shape and headstock definitely a McFarlen creation. Like the fretboard and markers as an extra twist.

Re: NZ source for CA glue?
I buy the little bottles when they appear in the "$2.00 shops". Last time I bought about 20 of them and keep it in my bar fridge, which is actually under the bench. Read a lot about correct bench heights and ergonomics ......... but I bow to the wisdom of Taffy. Next bench I build must be high enou...

Re: Advice on neck repair
Never tried a repair on this type of thing, but it looks like a pretty clean separation of the finger joint from that picture. - More like the glue failed with minor breakage of the timber at the extremes of the "fingers"

Re: No more High Mountain Lutz?
Hi Shane, firstly I wish you all the best with future endeavours. Secondly - it's great to see some images of the starting point of the timber that goes on to make some great builds. The ultimate build thread will be to see where you take some of your "personal" stash with these as a reminder of whe...

Elegant design, gorgeous timbers and quietly proclaims the craftsmanship of the builder. Who needs bling ?
Pure class Allen. Thanks for sharing (think I'll go hide in the shed now and weep pathetically).

That is a really nice looking and lovely sounding guitar John. Even better, it's going to someone who can and will appreciate it and make it sing.
Well done sir.

Re: Doing a Woodrat!!
Think there needs to be different degrees of "doing a Woodrat". A true 'Master' Woodrat doesn't just repurpose furniture timber for GSO's - to start he boldly walks into antique establishments, buys said goods and promptly saws it up right there before the dealers eyes ! Cracked me up that ho...

Re: Masking tape that works?
Same type of thing used in watercolour painting to mask off areas. (sometimes called friskit too). Basically a liquid latex rubber type stuff you paint on. It comes off of paper just by rubbing with your finger or using an eraser. Might work for this - but it's rather fluid when applied and may also...

Re: Masking tape that works?
The 3M "green" - new stuff - is advertised a specifically to stop this creep under the edge. Supposedly OK for up to 2 weeks. I've used it with success.
There's an orange version too for delicate surfaces that should be OK for a lot longer, but I havent tried that yet.
cheers

Re: Relief for Mac users (I think!)
Hi Trevor, dont have a real set up to test and play - but do have plenty of Mac's. Downloaded said program and had a go with built in speakers only. Seems to work just fine. You can set the start and finish frequencies and step interval you which to increase or decrease by. Click up or down and away...

Hi Christian, Really enjoying watching this build come together. Like you work very much and have wondered how the heck you manage the clean look of the mitred edges. You'd need everything to come together spot on in terms of symmetry etc. Now having seen the build images to date - I'm still gobsmac...

Re: Goodbye Go Bar 1 Model 2
Looks like a few $$ worth of aluminium there ! In actual use - do you make it all up according to the plan for braces, then try and get all of them in place in one go before clamping it down ? Or can you slot in a piece at a time? My first thought was you'd need to work pretty fast to get things lin...

Would be good to see how you do your mitred top/back/side joins.

Re: weather watching
You could get by with a small dunny size room Kevin, but you've seen my dry room and for me it's just adequate. I'd really like to do the entire back bay of the shed. OK, looks like I'll need to build in stages - start with the dunny, then extend to a full bathroom and add the master bedroom later....

Hi Liam, So just a small bench/shelf and not much else? - or is it a bit of board balanced on the actually dunny :D You haven't been pissing in my dry room have you Kev? Oops - thought I'd left such stumbling around somewhat worse for the devils liquor back in my dim and distant past. Many apologies

Re: weather watching
Thanks Alan & Nick. Nick, good to know a relatively small space is working out well for you - obviously a large area would be great, but I've got to build it and then keeping it humidity controlled will just get harder for me up here the bigger it gets. My thoughts were to have a space big enough fo...
