Its so easy and cheap to make your own.
Some copper pipe and a high powered light globe. You can shape it how you like and make a few different size ones much cheaper than the lmi one.

Finish is my good old Ubeaut Hard Shellac, applied with my psuedo french polishing method. I will get around to spraying nitroc again, but it's been a while now & I still had some Hard Shellac in the bottle. It's funny you say that - I'm looking at the opposite at present! For two reasons; somewhat...

Re: Guitar makers festivals
There is an Australian Guitar Gear heads forum on the web. They have an annual amp festival where they hire a room and try out each others gear mainly guitars and amps. Mainly Australian amps and guitars. Quite a few makers come along and show their wares. Perhaps ANZLF could extend a welcome to the...

Re: Guitar makers festivals
I reckon its time for the first ANZLF guitar makers/beer festival. Of course it would be prudent to have the guitar making festival first followed by the beer festival. The other way around just wouldnt work. :cl Small builders festival that was not run for a massive profit. Not just guitars, a bit...

Re: Truss Rods
Quite a few people believe that the extra mass of the double acting rods (compared to the 1920's gibson style) affect the sound of the guitar more then needed. If you built some relief in you could then use the rod to straighten the neck, do the fret work. By building in a tiny bit of relief, then t...

Re: Truss Rods
Nick I actually meant when building the neck. Not just the setup. John said he had two necks that need the dual action to give a bit of relief. Why don't people build a slight curve up in their necks instead of relying on the strings to do the work. As John has said the stiffer necks will need it. T...

Re: Truss Rods
I made the single action gilet version (steel rod bent back in two, brass block & grub screw) and it works a treat. Bloody needed to on the looong irish bouzouki neck it went into! That said, I've been installing the allied dual action ones since then. They're just so simple to install & so well ma...

Re: Truss Rods
John, What style of rod is in the Gilet/Gore book?
The LMII and Allied ones seem to be the standard. I dont really see the need for a dual action rod if the neck is made correctly but it is an added bonus.
Simso What have you found to be the most problematic of the rods?

Hi All,
What are your thoughts behind truss rods, which are good which are crap and why?
Who makes their own?
I have my mind set but it isnt something that I have found discussed on here before.

I really don't think the surface is the iPad direct competitor, it will be surface vs Mac air. Only time will tell but I can't really see the surface taking off. It looks ridiculous which although shouldn't really matter and probably won't to those who actually want to use it for work but to joe blo...

That's about what normal diggers meth cost for 20L.
I pay $80 for 20L from a local guy and that is a good price so you are getting a great deal.
What brand of sandpaper are you getting off him?

It should be easier.....Apple do a few annoying things like this. On the portables Ive never gotten used to the file viewer (Finder)...compared to windows explorer its clunky and it annoys the shit out of me. I fully agree. Not allowing that is pretty poor. I am not sure why they dont. I have read ...

Re: Pattern following bits and router tables
. Most of the cutters Ive seen with the bearing on the end of the cutter are designated as trimming cutters and not really ideal for removing a large amount of material . No router bit is ideal for removing large amounts of material. You should check out the spiral bits as well. I was speaking with...
