I forgot to mention that i decided to go with two finger braces each side. Annie has three which is an option on the plan. All style one instruments from the 1920s had two finger braces each side and the style two's had three. I must admit it looks very heavily braced but seems to work. Well, won't ...

Thanks Dave and Bob for you comments. I do have a weissenborn copy that was made for me two years ago from the MIMF plan and it is made to the plan. It sounds good. So i have the advantage of knowing the plan will make a good sounding instrument. Here is a pic of her top bracing. http://i146.photobu...

I'm buildng an all blackwood weissenborn copy also at the same time as the sassafrass. I will be bracing it over the ...

Thanks Dave for your interest and support. The brace design is as per the MIMF plan. Here are two pics of the top all braced. These pics where taken a few hours ago and the X brace patch has been glued on and is in the go bar deck at the moment. http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r261/ozziebluesman/...

Well I can vouch that Allen's acoustic guitars are first class having had the privelage of being able to play them this weekend. I'm very pleased you had some interest in the instruments. The Aussie Cedar 000 sure is a spectacular looking and sounding guitar. I also liked the tone of the Redwood top...

I finally got the uke back from my son to do the finish properly. When I presented it to him it had only had two coats of shellac. The past few weeks it has had 6 coats of shellac with plenty of drying time between each coat. The final coat is an application of beez wax. It is a matt finish but i li...

Yep i'm with James and his comments. When i make the next guitar for myself, tone and playability will be the most important attributes. My style is Blues so a 12 fret 000 is my choice and the smaller body size is very comfortable to play. I like to tune down to a tone below concert pitch to suit my...
