Re: pore filling epoxy - type
Just a little off topic. I use another bote cote product but not for grain filling. http://boatcraft.com.au/Shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=49 This is a paste and is mixed 1 to 1, it's pre thickened with cabosil , fumed silica. It can be coloured with wood dust to use as a bog, otherwise it dri...

Re: Woodrat's journey
This could start a new trend. Now every furniture maker will need guitar templates in his kit and thru inlay to thwart future resawing. The tops, gables, rails, draw fronts will be guitar pattern traced and an inlay design worked out. It could work.

Wow! Interesting custom made 'cat litter' tray Trev  Are you testing their IQ on the way too? A maze with an electric 'tickle' should they choose a certain path... 8) It's actually a cat proof mouse trap; one of my more imaginative creations, which is fuelling my diversification pus...

On another forum a new flat top violin was shown. He made 4 or 5 with different ff's, over a period of months, and they started to grow on me. I think it's just adjusting what we expect to see.

I can only hope, in the timber scarce future, no one finds a use for old guitars.

Efficiency is great. Reputation is great. Having wonderful suppliers you can trust, is great. Having a flash website, is great. Having the skills of a zen master, is great. But it's useless without sales. You can never have too many sales. You can have too little though. That hits the nail on the h...

"Rivers " Liam. Same Chinese clothes, same US prices. They seem to be the only ones. I've been to the US 3 times in the last 7 years. I arrive with a change of socks and undies and come home with a full suitcase. last time I bought a bow for my fiddle, $100 ,$300 here. At WalMart I found a double ba...

Good topic Perry, It applies to any high end craft. I was told early on to be much better at business than furniture making. 20 of my 40 working years have been self-employed. I made more money working for a boss and no stress. The only reasons I can keep my doors open, I own the doors and no debt. ...

Very tasty Steve. I love Ziricote. In another life in LA we went through many M3 of the " poor mans rosewood". Not the case any longer.

Steve, some do, some don't. There are many discussions about this out there. No shielding on my archtops , other than the wire. My eubs, piezos and onboard pre, benefit from shielding.

I only ever heard of Rodriguez 3 mos. ago. He just wasn't on L.A./ SoCal play lists. Neither was Abba, thank god. Thankfully we did have Little River Band and Daddy Cool. A big deal was made about LRB being Aussie. I didn't know Daddy Cool was Aussie till I got here in 81'. We thought they were a lo...

Hairy alright but it makes one a little more focused. I only tailed in and out. My only serious injury was on a router table, years ago doing something silly. ( still have 10 functioning digits, knocking on wood )
Last week I went thru Rog's new Surian Cedar and picked 2 very nice boards.

Kim, Growing up, my Mum made "Spag Bol." It wasn't until many years later that I discovered what true Bolognese really is. In fact, I don't make it at the shop, as Aussies wouldn't know it for what it is.. I make an Australianised version, which, while good, isn't a true Bolognese.... *sigh* I ende...
