Yes ALS have very good service, excellent speed of processing and good comunication. On the wood supply side Tim Spittle goes above and beyond to help. Many of the online businesses in Australia are very poor. Stock control, communication and notification of despatch are often lacking along with poo...

I agree Sebastian his plans are beautiful I just found it hard to see past the huge size and quantity of back bracing on A002. that is never warranted unless you want to be able to stand on the thing. Can't quite see the purpose in an exact replica of a bracing design that is basically flawed. The p...

To me it does not make sense to use the longitudinal bars. Look at the cracks in the top alongside the bars, you would be just setting yourself up for a failure. By all means use the outline and appearance of the instrument, it is a very attractive design to my eyes too, but use your own bracing sys...

I have not done a scarf jointed headstock yet, but Jim William's book shows a way of doing a scarf that starts at the back of the neck exactly behind the nut position, then proceeding to the front face of the headstock.
This does not leave the joint partway along the back of the headstock.

What really makes me cringe, Hesh, (and I am both a US and Australian Citizen) is to hear the POTUS described as

"the leader of the Free World"

If that is the case, maybe we all should have a vote.

Or if you have enough bridge height, just cut the saddle real low so it is not loading the front of the bridge excessively

Hides used for drums are not treated with heat tanning chemicals, they are rawhide, basically just cleaned stretched out on a board and dried (sometimes dehaired with woodash/lye but often just shaved after installation

I'm sure with you sebastian on modern commercial music and I think it is a gret shame that playing music has been separated from the people to where it is only "real" if it is on a CD or on TV

I first attempted building an acoustic guitar when I was around 20. Didn't get much further than starting a mould and buying some unsuitable wood. Ten years ago I started building African style drums for my band, then Xylophones, Native American style flutes, kora etc. Then before my 50th I decided ...

Rather tham trying to shape the base to the heel curvature why dont you just drill an appropriate size hole and recess most of a thicker (10mm?), flat "washer"
