Re: Goings on in the workshop

Here's my progress. Spent a few weeks in Hawaii for work which slowed me down. Almost finished a Dunble style amp and combo cabinet. In the process of "finishing" the cab now in the hot QLD weather. Guitar build no.2 is on hold until the amp is done. Here's a few shots of where I'm up to. These are ...

Replacement Book plans?

Hi all,

I appear to have misplaced my original Build Book falcate plans (Drawings 3 and 4) . Does anyone know if there is a way to get a replacement?

Re: Digression into amp building again

Thanks everyone. Sneak peak of the Dumble style ODS (Overdrive Supreme). This shot is test fit of the faceplates, pots, switches, etc. Making sure the eyelet board and relay board fit correctly. I'm a bit of a DIY tragic, everything is sourced or made from scratch. I bent up the chassis from some sc...

Digression into amp building again

So, I cracked my EIR side whilst bending a cutaway... So while I think about a method to fix/work around my stuff-up I diverted briefly into my other hobby, building tube amps. Behold the Woke Heretic! It's a 100% recycled junk box build. AX84 Clean Preamp mated to a MOSFET Cathodyne mated to a 6V6 ...

Mr. Loggerheads is having a break and will be back in business in the new year.

I too wasn't having any luck with the emails. Luckily he responded to my text, and I'm happy to wait a bit.

Re: Tap testing the panels - help, what am I seeing?

Hey thanks for the reply Trevor! I really appreciate it. I tried adjusting holding position and flipping the panel under test around to try all the sides. Moving the EIR back panel a little further away from the microphone did make the 167Hz peak stronger compared to the 197Hz. But I always got thos...

Tap testing the panels - help, what am I seeing?

Hi all. Yeah, yeah, tap testing panels... Bet you all thought you were over that didn't you? Well, it's my first time to this party. I've read some threads and gleaned some good tips to help me record decent VA spectrographs. But I'm getting some weirdness in the spectrographs for cross grain vibrat...

Allen, thanks for the brilliant tip!

Do you use the 0.3mm or 0.7mm stuff?

Re: Wood species for Falcate braces

I'm about to embark on my first falcate braced guitar so this thread has been great for me. Thanks all. I read a few years ago that people were using fabric softener to help bend problem woods. Anyone tried this with the Spruces for falcate braces? Slightly off topic - Anyone know who sells King Bil...

Re: Epoxy, brushes, CF tow, oh my!

Handy hint: I found it worthwhile to buy two syringes from local chemists...cheap...10ml and 3ml for the resin and hardener. Find two small jam jars, height more than the length of the syringes. Cut holes in the lids, dia to suit syringes. No need to clean out syringes, just put them in hanging on ...

Thanks all for your expert advice! I really appreciate your input!

I'm looking at Bote Cote very closely. I like the low VOC and 2:1 mix ratio.

Epoxy, brushes, CF tow, oh my!

Hi everyone. After reading and re-reading the soundboard and brace design sections of "the books", I've reluctantly come around to the idea of epoxy and CF for the braces. I'm a CF and epoxy newbie. I've searched the forum for suppliers of CF tow and thanks to Martin for this link: http://carbonfibe...

Here's some pictures of a vacuum clamp I made. Frame is 19mm MDF. Silicon membrane is a 2mm or 3mm silicon cutting mat I bought from an art supply store. Sandwiched together with silicon sealant. The vacuum generator, tubing and compressor connections are from guitartemplates.com.au (A local Brisban...

Re: King billy & Amboyna nylon

Trent... nice work! I *love* the cutaway. Venetian and Florentine styles combined! I might have to steal that idea. It looks like you didn't use carbon fiber in your bracing, but still hit the "ideal" bridge rotation angle. Can you please walk through the basics of how you did this? I'm re-reading "...

Request: 12 Fret Guitar plans

Hi all,

I've been through the Guitar Plans section, but I couldn't find any live links to free 12 fret steel string plans. Does anyone know of available and free plans for such a thing online?

Thanks in advance

I like that! Thanks for the link. A quick google search gave me this result: https://www.instructables.com/Cleaning-Off-Pitch-Resin-From-Router-Bits-and-Saw-/ for a cheaper blade cleaner solution.
