my fret wire is stew mac med/high (i think?) it's tang is 0.5 and on my test piece it works fine. fingers crossed for the real thing. the NGR fingerboard isn't as hard as some.

cheap fret saw

being the cheap arse that i am and being that i'm in the process of building my first guitar i've found a cheap saw to cut my fret slots. i tried to find a pic on the net but can't find one. its a hobby/modelers saw from my local hobby world. the brand is 'MAXX. pull out saw blade' 5" long. cost $8....

i couldn't agree more. there seems to be so many variables that can affect intonation. how far are you gonna go to avoid all of these. something as simple as pushing the strings down harder against the fretboard can affect the intonation. then again though, i'm a bottleneck man so i'm never bang on ...

i use those reva superhold pegs also. i was a little skeptical of their strength until i stuck about a dozen on my finger. i'm now a believer.

been practicing with whats left of the bindings using a backing strip of that black tin stripping they use to bundle large crates and bulk timber and whitegoods and stuff. rip roaring success except will have to see if i can cut new bindings for the real thing tomorrow.

allen i really appreciate the offer of the electric pipe but am in the brainstorming stage of building one from scatch. the commercial units couldn't contain anything i don't deal with often at work (element+control+pipe=hot pipe). surely. just need to know the wattage of the commercial units if any...

you're talking about stacking the bindings and taping, not laying them side by side, right. so 2 2mm bindings stacked and taped becomes 4mm thick.
