Graham, somewhere in the archives, OLF's I believe, if not, then MIMF's, there is a thread about a wall mounted version of Hesh's binding jig. It might be an answer for you shop situation.

Joel, did you get a custom blanket or go with one of the stock sizes? I remember it took a couple of weeks for it to get to me, but it wasn't bad. I have no idea how much of that time was eaten up in transport.

Hesh, do you carve you braces with the plate on your sanding dish? Not having done it, I'm torn between it being a simple way of keeping the plate relatively still and worrying about gouging the back of the plate if it slips or is pressed into the dish too hard.

Sweetie is the wine "connoisseur" in our family. I remember seeing a couple of Yellow Tail bottles of Shiraz come through the house recently. It most have been tasty for there to be a second, and quite possibly, a third bottle.

Re: Not sure I qualify to be here...but I'm here anyway

G'day folks I have never built a guitar in my life and can't play one either. (Snip....) A few days ago I woke up with a little voice in my head...build a guitar Richard, build a guitar. It hasn't gone away so I'm here (snip...) Welcome Richard. No worries, you are among friends who suffer(ed) from...

What I took away from the rather lengthy discussion over at the OLF was that baking tops was akin to washing fabric before you sewed something with it, preshrinking it, if you will. The intent was to stabilize the wood. Actually it did two things at once, stabilize the wood as well as let you know s...

Alain, no need to apologize. I guess I could have just used the body tracing, but I thought I'd just ask to have the information in the thread. Thanks for your guesstimate. That's close enough. It's looking like my Saturday is getting eaten up by obligations, but Sunday is still free. I hope to have...

Question for Alain

Alain, how much did you drop the shelf? I've got the pieces cut out, but I need to pick up the hardware. So I should be able to get it finished this weekend.

Welcome to the forum Showtell.

I bought mine at Omega in the US. About half the price of LMI or John Hall.

I have a 15 minute timer in the line as a safety precaution. It all but eliminates the possiblity of burning down the shop.

Bob, there are several threads on baking tops in the archives at the OLF. Well worth the read. One or two were a bit hotly opinionated, but still, well worth the read.
