Re: Broken drill bit in tie block
Thanks everyone, I will give these a go. It is funny how when you're a bit downbeat your problem solving skills can go out the window. I think having to remove the 1st bridge, mucking up the finish a bit removing it and then struggling with broken bit knocked my resilience. I really appreciate repli...

Broken drill bit in tie block
Boy, my current build is giving me no end of grief. I am making a new bridge after the first one split under string tension along the lamination while stringing up. I noticed however that one of the 18 holes on the new bridge hadn't gone all the way through the tie block. Using a eggbeater style had...

Re: Compensated Nut Jig and mini pin-router
I have been frequently looking at this thread and the jig described in the book and then I've been procrastinating making a pin router jig using either drill press or dremel for a while now. But I have finally figured out a different method The most accurate machine in the shop is the table router o...

I'm having terrible trouble trying to get paypal working having not used it in years, changed phone number etc ad nauseam, but I really would like to contribute. Any chance of a PM or an email with EFT details and I could just transfer you some money?

Re: Cutting 1mm slots / rings for rosettes
As regards to the use of superglue on raw spruce, I have found occasionally that the superglue stains the wood a greenish tint. Does anybody else experience this and what would the reason be for it only happening on some spruce samples and not others? Ross Yes there is some staining with CA on spru...

Re: Cutting 1mm slots / rings for rosettes
At the Brisbane AGMS we now wash the rosette area with CA rather than shellac (before cutting and any end grain is exposed) after seeing it on the Michael Greenfield vid. We haven't had a student build with fuzziness from the SM dremel circle cutter since.

I have no idea about bouzoukis at all but love all the experiments and tests of skills and process you have jam packed into it. Are the f holes your design? Wow and love you have done the fan fret on a non-guitar. Makes my mind boogle with everything going on

Re: Counter sinking bolts BO/BO fretboard extension
So I ended up widening the holes in the neck block to 6mm and them making a bit by filing to shape and sharpening with a diamond stick. Worked a treat! Thanks everyone. A few photos and a before and after:

Thanks Trevor. The bridge mass without 4mm saddle is 17.5g. I will leave as it is and keep testing as I go, cheers.

Adjusting resonances fleta braced nylon
I have a few touches left on the headstock of my current build and I am into finish prep'ing. So basically in the white, no bridge. I did a tap test and the T111 is sitting at 101Hz, T112 at 221Hz and what I assume is cross diapole at 252Hz. Should I be trying to reduced the T112 and Cross Dipole at...

What a beauty! There are lots of things I like about this guitar. First, the overall colour scheme and minimal aesthetic is spot on, in my opinion.
