Re: 00 Acoustic build thread.
You can always ebonise your bridge and get the best of both worlds: http://www.popularwoodworking.com/techniques/ebonizing_wood http://www.anzlf.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8469&p=90008&hilit=ebonising#p90008 I would highly recommend Kent Everrett's videos if you're going for an arm bevels https://obrie...

Re: Opinions wanted on use of this Sitka top...
I had thought the association between tighter grain and strength is a misnomer and the only reason for tight grain it is purely aesthetic. So if you liked the look of it, I'd say use it.
You could test the modulus of elasticity to be sure for that particular piece.

Re: Back brace/linings jigs
I must admit I quite enjoy hand cutting notches. I have to force myself to stop after the first one while demo'ing it to students. I did see a T shaped jig on (I think) ig a while ago. The stem of the T was 2 parts and slipped over the guitar sides with the cross of the T creating a platform for a d...

Re: First Flamenco Guitar.
Fantastic John! Great sounding flamenco, and so great to hear played, and by Paco no less.
I've been following Paco's ig, the course looked like a great time.

I know raffles aren't allowed for WA residents but thought this was ok for the rest of the country. I will look into it and get back you

Student build -
I had my first student complete a guitar yesterday. It has camphor laurel b+s, silver quandong sb, Qld maple neck Osmo oil finish It the school's entry model, a fixed fee build where all the materials and design are pre-selected. Re: Veneer Softener
It is a really useful thing to have when you need it. We have however had problems with veneer softener and silky oak with the wood almost disintegrating as if it was cardboard.

I really like the multi-piece neck. The shape certainly is distinctive. How does it sound Cal?

Brisbane Luthiers Meet-up (25th August)
Hey All, The other day a stranger stopped me in the street to introduce themselves as a fellow guitar builder because I was wearing a lutherie podcast t-shirt. This got me thinking about how many other guitar makers were local to me but I hadn't had the chance to meet. So, I thought I would do somet...

All good advice above. Only thing I would add is, how old is your paper? Does it need a change? Sometimes dull paper is your problem rather than the wood.

That was great. I do enjoy the understated tone of your tutes too. I am sure if I attempted that there would be lot more drama and cursing
