Re: #11 - Blackwood/Sinker Redwood.

Thanks folks :gui

I was sort of worried that the red accents would be too over bearing, but in the end it all worked out well.

Gotta get me some more Aussie timbers :D

#11 - Blackwood/Sinker Redwood.

This marks Guitar # 11 for me. The woods (apart from the top and inlay woods) was purchased back in 2007 from an OLF auction to help out our Friend Kevin Gallagher (rip) . Most of the woods were donated by Tim Spittle and Kim Hickey. Here are the details: Top - Sinker Redwood Back & Sides - Flamed T...

I'm sure some of you know about this site, but some of you may not.

Of course I'm not affiliated but just wanted to spread the word. Wish I had me some of those awesome looking burls he's got on his site.

Re: Minnerichi bridge....Wow nice stuff!!!

Oh ya, Jason's guitar sure look great. I've head a few sound clips of them around the net too and they sound really nice too.

Yup, that thread shows a very good detail on how this rosette is made. Pretty simple really, just time consuming.

Re: Minnerichi bridge....Wow nice stuff!!!

John, the stained glass rosette is the brain child of Jason Kostal, he builds amazing guitars. I'm always sure to give credit for his design. Having said that, the construction is rather simple I think. The pieces are all random size and shape. The black lines are 0.015" ebony and I just randomly gl...

Re: Minnerichi bridge....Wow nice stuff!!!

Thanks folks. Trevor, I found a site than mentioned the Minnerichi being in the 750-1100 kg/m^3 but that of course is a rather large range... Just doing another search I found {Acacia grasbyi} Miniritchie Janka hardness 3800 - Specific Gravity 1.23 from this website http://www.morlanwoodgifts.com/MM...

Minnerichi bridge....Wow nice stuff!!!

I've been waiting a long time to make this bridge. I got this wood in an OLF auction I think in 2006.... Of course most of us northern hemi folk have ever heard of Minnerichi before, some may have thought it was a mexican band or something.... I have to say, this is by far one of the finest woods I'...

Thank you all very much! And thanks Bob for the Slim comment :) Trevor, the guitar was recorded by a friend of mine. He used a condenser mic set just north of the sound hole 3-4". I don't know his gear as far as computer software, etc....however he did try and get the most acoustic live sound with t...

GA model in Rosewood/Cedar

Hey folks, I hope you don't mind me posting some pictures of my latest build. It was finished back in February of this year and unfortunately this guitar had a bit of a tragedy in shipping. I shipped the guitar to Toronto via Canada post. I got the appropriate insurance ($3,500 value) and sent the g...

Re: Semi-Hemispherical fret ends

Great tutorial Rod! It's good to see your approach. If I can make one suggestion towards marking on metal, after marking your cut with a sharpie, use a scale and a scribe to mark the edge of the fretboard and you can get within a couple of thousandth's of the actual edge and cut to a greater precis...

Re: 'Om built thickness sander

What could I use instead of spruce? Spruce doesn't seem to be available around these parts. :gui Some nice Tiger Myrtle will do it as well. Or flamed Blackwood (I recently have read here around that it's only weed, just as spruce in BC). Actually, in BC we call weed, weed or grass sometimes.... ;)
