Re: Measuring and marking frets
I am no expert but one tip you may or may not already know. Make sure you do not measure fret to fret. Making tiny mistakes this way compounds the errors further down the fretboard. Only use this type of measuring to check your work. The stewmac calculator is good for this and shows both from nut an...

Re: Diamond Sharpening Stones
I have the 8" ones and love them (https://www.dmtonlinestore.com/8-Diamon ... -P2C2.aspx).
Havent really noticed the "tracks" developing in the blade, but I think I subcosiously try and move around a bit while sharpening to keep the wear even anyway.

Re: Pau Ferro fingerboards
Thanks Peter. I am a sucker for a dark fingerboard so difficult to change to somthing lighter. Has anyone had any experience with Rocklite Ebano http://rctonewoods.com/RCT_Store/rocklite-ebano-guitar-parts-c-174_179/ ? Seems quite expensive so would have to be very impressive to be worth the expense...

Re: Pau Ferro fingerboards
I have been using macassar ebony for most fretboards.
I love that it goes really dark with oiling.
Does gidgee go dark when you oil it?

Wow look at that throat plate. Its done a mile or two! A great resource, as usual, for newbies to luthierie Steve! One trick when making kerfed linings is to use an old piece of bandsaw blade or some veneeer glued into a wooden stop as per the photo. Shown in the pic is the one I laid my hands on in...

I have one of these green ones. Got a family member who imports cars to bring it back for me for around $150. I couldn't do without it now that I have it.blackalex1952 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2017 2:44 pmThese guys have one...$346 - scroll down on the page.

Re: Neck projection error
Why not just pop the neck of cut and refit the neck (basically a neck reset) Just out of curiosity why 8.5mm thick bridge, thats a little on the low side. When I do a neck reset, I aim for about 1/2 inch clearance of strings to the body, I also replace the bridge if someone has been shaving it down...

Re: Fretboard oil
Just thought I would reply because no one mentioned this stuff. I have been using it on all my guitars for years and I have seen a few builders recommend it on various forums etc. I really like it, non sticky and doesn't collect dirt etc. I use it very sparingly like maybe every 5 or 6 string change...
