update! tele body is finished! will post pictures later tonight. Ended up using Northern Ash from aus timbers, fantastic looking bit of timber. Really good experience building the guitar with my old man, hitting the speed bumps, prevailing slowly! Purchased a babicz full contact bridge, THE BOSS bar...

what a marvellous journey this shall be haha. garage is officially clean and i am extremely excited to get started. we are planning on going to a few timber yards tomorrow that the aus woodwork magazines says a few luthiers from melbourne purchase from, just going to go and get a feel for the differ...

money isnt really a worry at the moment puff, what wood would you suggest will be the best quality for my situation. disregarding the timbers ease of use

Thanks so much for the replies guys, all extremely helpful. By lighter I simply meant a lightweight (aka not mahogany haha). By high gain/hot I mean a guitar designed to be played through at amp through quite high distortion. I read that the "hotter" the pick up, specially when it comes to the activ...
