Greetings from the other side of the big pond.

I also have a monthly newsletter so if you are interested in updated information and tonewood specials, please sign up. Although I haven't i...

Re: James - Myrtle

If it if so readily available, and inexpensive, I'm surprised that it is not used more widely! Though I do no have strings on it yet, it reminds me an awful lot of Cpanish cypress. Gregory Ahh yes, myrtle is a fine and dandy tonewood indeed and working with it certainly is a dream, that is of cours...

Mathew, Rick's probably not aware that we are a nation of avid home brewers and therefore, the importance of us understanding the specific gravity of water simply cannot be overstated. After all, it is the very mark every self respecting Aussie brewmeister seeks to avoid and is indeed what makes be...

Getting close....
Jingle Bell Rock is in the Key of D major, Little Sister is in the key of E major and I Fall To Pieces is in the key of F major.

One last clue...think of a Gibson Byrdland with one Charlie Christian pickup and a great sessions musician......

A musical challenge......

First person who gets this one correct wins a set of 20 year old figured cherry for steel string guitar.

Please, on the honor system, no internet searching.

What do the songs "Little Sister," "I Fall To Pieces," and "Jingle Bell Rock" have in common?

Good luck.

I guess they consider the movie "Deliverance" a love story

Serious Stuff.......

With all of the seriousness lately, I thought a little humor might be in order. The Sensitive Man A woman meets a man in a bar. They talk; they connect; they end up leaving together. They get back to his place, and as he shows her around his apartment, she notices that one wall of his bedroom is comp...

Graham, Glad the tops arrived and thank you for your patience. I like to call Red spruce the "red headed stepchild" because cosmetically it's not that same as Englemann, German or Sitka. If you can get beyond the visual characteristics of Red spruce you'll find the tone absolutely incredible. Your m...

One little thing to add about wood storage. For dense woods like EIR, Bocote, Cocobolo, ebony, I would suggest you seal the ends if you have not. For less dense wood like mahogany, walnut, koa, you really don't need to seal the ends. When you sticker wood place the outer most stickers 3/4" in and th...

Guys,
I might be able to point you to a place for a group buy on bindings and purflings. I don't carry that much of the stuff myself but know where you can get some really nice stuff at good prices.
Just thought I'd help get the ball rollin'.

A kind of Brazilian rosewood

I was curious about this wood sold on Ebay and contacted John Hall of Blues Creek Guitars who was kind enough to send me a sample. I sent the sample to a plant geneticist at the Univeristy of South Carolina who identified the species as dalbergia latifola or Sonokeling rosewood. He also stated the w...
