Re: Neck material
I have used a dovetail joint on all of my earlier builds, this time I have decided to go with a bolt on.....problem is I have no idea how! The book I have only shows the dovetail method. Re: Neck material
Kim, I really had no intentions of using it for a neck, but thought maybe someone may have known what it was.It is 240x50x1800, so more than enough for b&s, but still that grain is pretty wild !...I think it would be a risk to try and bend the sides....Maybe one day i'll break it down and give it a g...

Re: Gidgee storage & usage questions
Another thing to consider is that if it is grown in a suburban environment,(which I summize it is if a tree lopper has it) it will have grown a lot quicker than it would in its natural environment. If this is the case the growth rings will not be as tight, making it a lot less stable and prone to cr...

Soundhole size
In a previous post of mine I was asked what size the sound-hole was..This has started me thinking on it,and what are the effects of different sized holes?? I imagine if to small the guitar would lack volume and sound a bit "tinny" ?, and to big a bit drummy maybe???(don't you just love my big techni...

Kim, Thnx for the reply.Sorry about the picture quality, the next ones will be better...took these with phone. I should have given some dimensions. The max height of braces is 12.5 mm, and max width is 7 mm. I had only glued the cap on just before I took photo, so it is now trimmed down. I will certai...

Latest build
As this instrument building is all new to me,( only building number 3 now) I have limited knowledge. The first 2 look and sound nice, but I think they both lack volume on the bass strings, sound really good on the high side. Could this be a bracing issue? I have posted pics of the current build, which ...
