Re: Buying buffing setup
I use the same basic set-up and am very happy with the results. I have a simple 3" foam pad in my buffing tool. I think the secret is the 3M Perfect-it. The stuff is like magic! You need to experiment with speed and pressure a little bit but once you get the "feel" WOW!! A really shiny guitar in les...

Re: Mottola /Grellier
I've used the L-00 plans about 7-8 times and used the Martin size 0 plans twice. All came out very, very nice.
Build on!
Have fun!

The angled ends on the butt wedge are something I've never seen before. Very well done! May I steal that for my instruments?
Again, Super!

Re: 'Z' Poxy
The last package of Zpoxy I purchased had a reddish cast to it. It looked good on rosewood and mahogany. On maple I can imagine it was not so pleasing. This was the first time it came with the red color. The other (several) times I purchased it, it was a golden amber. I dunno what to tell you.... Mi...

Re: Photocopying plans?
Hi:
PDF files are scalable, that means they print at accurate sizes at any blueprint shop. I printed two sets of the Grellier plans (two copies of each) for around $30 US. You can even just email the files to the blueprint shop, that way you only have to make one trip.
Good Luck, Mikey

Re: Swamp kauri always like cardboard?
Good Morning: I built an OM from ancient kauri and adirondack last year. This was a very interesting experience, like you I thought the tap tone was lifeless and dull. However when the instrument was finished it was remarkable, it had sustain on top of sustain. The instrument eventually sold and the...
