Re: jb Guitars - Custom DC

Great work Jason. Can't wait to see a vid. I'm really keen to see how the piezo translates on the solidbody. Seems a few manufactures are following Taylor down this path and would love to try my own version one day. Has anyone else had experience with putting a piezo pickup on a solidbody?

Re: Shielding Copper or Shielding Paint??

I prefer the silver/copper paint as mentioned in the other thread; but recently I've gained a solid appreciation for the stewmac copper tape - it's great when you need a fast turnaround, or for little fixes, comes out looking good if you take care PLUS you can solder to it really really easily when ...

Re: Good air compressor?

Sad Seriously I probably wouldn't mind if it was the original version. Sadly, it's the Toploader version (2000) and it's horrible. Occasionally she's in a more reflective mood and instead chooses "Hero" by Enrique Iglesias (on repeat), cranked to distortion. Not even as a joke. I hereby swear to buy...

Re: Good air compressor?

Hmm thanks guys. At the end of the day it'd probably only see light duty work so I might just save my pennies and get a little cheapish one. The noise factor isn't even that big of an issue really, and I'd welcome anything that drowns out the neighbor's music ("dancing in the moonlight" and only "da...

Re: Guitar Shielding

I actually get the little pots of it from ebay. I've been meaning to chase a better supply but you get about 3 or 4 guitars worth from each little pot so it's not awfully expensive for the result you get. I'd buy a gallon of the stuff if I could; I really dig it. I've even resurrected some rack gear...

Re: Guitar Shielding

I really like the acheson electrodag silver/copper paint (SP-008A), I've used it for a while and it's got great conductivity (and looks pretty snazzy). It's water based too, so cleanup isn't traumatic. 3 coats looks like img~ If you're going for tape make sure the actual adhesive is conductive too a...

Re: Al's Special Les Paul Junior

Looks amazing but I think you are selling it short calling it a les paul junior. Binding and a great figured top = lp standard at least, if not better!
